Melissa is Active for Life's founder and has been working in the fitness industry for over a decade. She decided to create Active For Life in order to ensure exercise prescriptions are also provided for populations that tend to be neglected. This ensures that both the general population and special populations equally receive the health, wellness and fitness instruction they need to live life to the fullest.
Allison is a certified Holistic Nutritionist, Functional Medicine Health Coach and Personal Fitness Trainer. She has been in the health & wellness field since 2008 and started her own business, Finesse Fitness, in 2012.
She believes in helping others reclaim their body and their health from a holistic, inside out approach. Through personalized programs and coaching, clients are able to look, feel and function at their personal best.
Yoga is Danielle's passion! It runs through her veins! Several years ago, she came upon yoga during a tough time in her life. She wanted a more holistic way to heal: mentally, physically and emotionally. After just a few yoga classes, she was discovering the benefits of yoga. She knew that she wanted to pay it forward and give the gift of yoga to others!
Michelle graduated from The Ohio State University in 2000 with her degree in Occupational Therapy. In 2013, she became a certified Lymphedema Therapist, CLT, specializing in chronic edema management. Most recently, she pursued a certification from ACE as a Certified Medical Exercise Specialist (2017) to increase her knowledge of human movement and motivating behaviors.
Wendy fell in love with the practice of yoga after taking her first class. At the end of every class, she would have an overwhelming sense of contentment. She had never before experienced anything like that. Wendy continued to take classes and attended various workshops that were taught by phenomenal teachers. These teachings deepened her practice and eventually led her to pursue a 200 hour YTT.
Jen has been teaching since since 2004. She is certified as an Activity Director (NCCAP), a Fall Prevention Specialist, and a Senior Fitness Specialist (ACE).
She is also certified through the National Council of Sports and Fitness (NCSF), Aerobic and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association (NESTA), the Cooper Institute Dietary Guidance, and the United States Personal Chef Association (USPCA)
Shannon Linberg is a Certified Exercise Physiologist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Youngstown State University. She loves to use her education to help special populations gain strength, purpose, and self-empowerment through exercise. She has a strong belief in the phrase "exercise is medicine" and is always encouraging and motivating people to gain the benefits of exercise however they can.
Shannon has a background in working on the medical side of exercise physiology with cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and takes every opportunity to further challenge herself in helping others to live fuller lives.
Kayla Young is a 2018 Ohio University graduate who has a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology. She is also a Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist and has extensive experience working with people of all ages who have cardiac, pulmonary, metabolic, and musculoskeletal diseases. Kayla has been a lifelong athlete, playing soccer, volleyball, basketball, and track. The love for competition and teamwork from being an athlete inspired her to start working as a Group Fitness Instructor for Active For Life. She creates a high energy, body positive, inclusive environment in her classes that is enjoyable and challenging for participants of all abilities.
Liz is a graduate of Otterbein University with a BA is Music and Dance Minor. She spent 10 years traveling Internationally and Nationally with musical theater productions. Her favorite credits include: 2 seasons with How The Grinch Stole Christmas (National Tour and Grand Ole Opry), 42nd Street (International tour in Asia), and In The Mood: A 1940's Musical Revue (2010-2014 International/National Tour). After a decade on the road and living in NYC she has returned to Cleveland and become an educator in performance, music, physical fitness and dance.
John's interest in the martial arts started in college where he trained to be an instructor in several styles. He runs a martial arts school focusing on the Chinese martial arts, primarily tai chi and wing chun. He regularly travels around the country and to China to train further. John is also an active member and past president of the Rotary Club of Strongsville.
Keri started her fitness journey as an athlete- this is where her drive for health/wellness/fitness grew to where it is today: as an exercise physiologist specializing in functional training, special populations and post rehab training. Outside of training and teaching Keri is in the operations side of the industry where she creates programming and maintains facility operations.
Along side her career Keri spends a lot of her time being active outside hiking and climbing alpine country, boating and golfing.
Maureen is a retired R.N. who has been involved with fitness for 20 years. She has been teaching for 2 years. In her spare time she enjoys photography, sewing, crocheting, reading and fixing up her new (old) house, room by room.
Korin received his Bachelors of Science at Baldwin Wallace University where he majored in Exercise Science and minored in Personal Wellness. He became a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2015 and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Additionally, Korin is a CrossFit Level 1 Instructor. He coaches classes at Rock N Roll City Gym and enjoys working out with and training the members.
Kim has been teaching for almost 3 years and is certified as a 500 hour level Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). She finds researching the human body, mind/body connection and breath practices nourishes her ability to offer a well-rounded class. Watching people grow in their yoga practice is rewarding for her and her students.

Raquel has10 years of experience teaching Zumba Fitness, Water Aerobics, Step, Toning, Zumba Toning, Kids Zumba, Zumba Step, Silver Sneakers, Zumba Gold, and Body Works.
She has taught over 10 years for LA Fitness, Golds Gym, 24 Hr Fitness, YMCA and more. She has been licenced since August of 2008.
